Hi my name is Karen Torres, I am studying at the Universidad Simón Bolívar, I’m a future urban planner and this is my final project of English 3, which show my point of view about what makes Venezuela unique from an urban planning perspective? And the purpose of this final project is to integrate the content of the course in a description of how the elements we have covered in this course make venezuelan urban planning unique.
So, the first topic of the course was Color, color importance in urban planning could be that using a strategic color composition some desired sensations, perceptions and emotions could be created in humans beings, so in this way, public spaces can be enhance and enliven, or new interest areas can be created in the city, as was seen in this pictures.

Next topic was lighting, lighting can make a big difference in how people feel about a place, it helps them perform tasks more easily, makes them feel safer and comfortable.

Then came the texture issue, texture is the appearance and feel of a surface; it can also be interpreted as the quality given to a piece of art. The importance of texture in urban planning is that using it some public spaces can be revived and beautified and thanks to this it can be change the daily experience and it can be improve the quality of life of people who pass through these places every day.

Then came Acoustics, acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of sound, ultrasound and infrasound. Venezuela has specific places that are designed to control the reverberation time, sound waves and the frequency to make the acoustics of the place pleasant to humans.

Next topic was Rhythm, which means the variation of the length and accentuation of a series of events or things. There are five types of rhythm: the repetition of shapes, the repetition of dimensions, the repetition of differences, the rhythm of lines and the repetition of line motions in curves; and also all these types of rhythm can be indefinite and open or definite and closed.

Then came horizontal and vertical circulation, the design of horizontal circulation frequently determines the basic shape and character of the entire structure and vertical circulations are those which furnish means for progress from one level to another.

Finally, the topic of space and scale, space means the extension that contains all the existing matter, the distance between bodies and things: and human scale means a scale comparable to a human being. A number of characteristic physical quantities can be associated with the human body, so the spaces of our cities are planned and appropriated to human scale, also are planned doubles or triples heights in some places if it is desired, but in some places in Venezuela space and human scale are not a topic of concern and therefore are not taken into account, leaving residual spaces between constructions that results useless and risky.
